Who it helps

Follow-up sessions

A 50-minute check-in after a block, led by Emmett Redmond or Lan Dang.

A block is a lot of work in one sitting. A follow-up is the other half: a look at how the days afterward went, what you noticed, and what you want next. Emmett Redmond leads most follow-ups, working under the supervision of Lan Dang, LCSW.

Who it suits

  • Adults who have just done a block

  • Adults who live outside Anchorage and want to meet by video

  • Adults deciding between another block, weekly sessions or a pause

What it looks like

What a follow-up looks like

Fifty minutes, in person or by video.

  • 01

    How the days went

Sleep, appetite and energy in the days after, in your words.

  • 02

    What you noticed

Anything that came up, and what helped you steady yourself.

  • 03

    What comes next

Another block, weekly sessions, or a pause, decided together.

What it is not

What this is not

  • Not without risks

EMDR can bring strong feelings and memories, during a block and after it. Lan explains the risks in the preparation call, and you can stop at any point.

  • Not a crisis service

Fathom does not answer messages around the clock. If you are in crisis, call or text 988. In an emergency, call 911.

  • Not a new treatment plan on its own

Changes to the plan are agreed with Lan, who stays involved throughout.

Pace and cost

Length, frequency and how it is paid

  • Fifty minutes

One follow-up comes with a three-block package; others are booked as you need them.

  • In person or by video

In Anchorage, or by video when you are in Alaska at the time.

  • How it is paid

Fees are on the fees page, with a written estimate before you start.

Questions

Three questions about this

How long is a block, and how many will I need?

A block is three hours, with breaks. Some people book blocks weeks apart and some on back-to-back days. Your clinician sets the pace with you after the preparation call, and there is no set number of blocks. Weekly or monthly 50-minute sessions are an option too.

What is your cancellation policy?

Change a block with 7 days' notice and there is no charge. With less notice, the block's fee is due, because the time was held for you. A preparation call or a follow-up can be changed with 24 hours' notice.

Are you licensed where I live?

Lan and Emmett are licensed in Alaska. We see you in person in Anchorage, or by video when you are in Alaska at the time of the session. If you live in another state and will not be in Alaska, we can't see you, and we are glad to help you find someone.
